The HourWork recruitment and employee retention system is the best on the market. It uncovers what matters most to your employees and automatically checks in at key milestones. The August 2022 analysis of our exclusive data from the 6,000+ quick-service restaurants using our platform shows our platform drove a 30-percent retention increases during one of the most challenging labor markets for franchisees.
Let’s dig into the data.
Why Hourly Employees Quit
In 2021, we analyzed more than 20,241 exit surveys from over 1,000 restaurants across the country and confirmed some key facts we had previously only hypothesized.
Here’s what we found:
- In the first 90 days, employees are five times more likely to quit due to issues like miscommunication than after 90 days.
- In the first 90 days, employees are half as likely to quit due to the manager or working conditions than after 90 days.
What does this tell us?
Employee Retention issues – especially within the first few months of employment – are completely solvable. Employees want consistent, clear communications during their early days on the job while they acclimate to new teammates, responsibilities, and expectations.
And that’s exactly what HourWork provides.
So, about that 30-percent retention lift…
We have heard overwhelmingly positive feedback from the more than 6,000 QSR stores utilizing HourWork’s solutions. So, we wanted to put it to the test with a nationwide survey.
We recently analyzed more than 280,000 hires made by our customers in 2021 and 2022. This data set looked at 14-, 30-, 60-, and 90-day turnover before and after HourWork. It also included data from 3,297 restaurants from across the United States.
The results were staggering.
The surveyed stores saw an average turnover decrease of 25 to 30 percent in workers’ first 90 days thanks to HourWork.
These results were incredible to see on such a large scale and further confirmed the importance of consistent, people-first communications during employees’ first days at a new job.
The most amazing part to us? These substantial improvements in retention come at a time when owner/operators in the QSR industry are struggling mightily to keep their people.
Many of our QSR customers have found that employees appreciate small, consistent action from their employers. Things like one-on-ones with management, recognition, celebration, or minor improvements to the orientation process.
Our platform is easy to implement and it integrates directly into your daily operations. Use our system to check in with new hires to make sure they don’t quit. Send pulse surveys to current employees. Automate 1:1s with your crew members. And send exit surveys to past employees.
It’s a simple approach that can lead to game-changing turnover reduction.
And your store can experience similar success.
